We tried to make invisible ink, using lemon juice, but we need to try this experiment again. We think we might have left the pages too long and the ink no longer works.
We did an experiment to see if our white flowers would change if we placed them in water colored with food colouring.
We were very surprised by the results. In some of the glasses none of the water was drunk by the flowers. The blue food colouring worked the best.

What we did: We made bridges using sheets of paper and tested them with toy cars.
The challenge: Make the bridges strong enough to support the cars.

We had an amazing and fun time with teachers and pupils from Greenhills College yesterday. We made a lego maze, did coding, used electronics to make lego pieces move and played a lego number line game. We watched some videos taken in the college, they …
5th class travelled to the Model Gallery for a workshop on constructing Hydrogen powered cars.
As part of Aistear we also did an experiment looking at the insides of fruits. We saw that some fruits were a lot different inside to their outsides. We really enjoyed this and used our fruits to make prints with paint.
Apparatus- Vegetable Oil, Water, Measuring Jug, Plastic bottle(s), food colouring, Alka Seltzer Tablets.
Background info and Experiment:
Chemical Energy is energy that is released during chemical reactions. Alka Seltzer tablets contain two chemicals (Citric Acid and Bread Soda) that react when they meet water.
