St Bridget’s Day

Today is St Bridget’s Day. We have been learning about her life this week and today we celebrated by making St Bridget’s crosses. Traditionally the crosses were put into homes to protect them from fire. 

 

Library trip to see Michael Moylan from Irish History Live

 
On Monday we walked to Balbriggan Library and had a workshop with Michael Moylan from Irish History Live.

We saw uniforms, we wore uniforms and we learnt a great deal about The War of Independence and The Sack of Balbriggan on 20th September 1920.

We are learning about castles. We have been looking at the different rooms in the castle’s keep and finding out about what life was like for the people living in the castle. We drew some pictures of the castle keep to help us learn more about it….

Parkes Castle 2017

4th Class recently visited our local Castle Parkes Castle. We learned a bit about the background of the castle and its inhabitants over the years before our tour.
